How can I get silky hair without damaging my hair?

Q. Hi, so I'm a guy and I think my hair is kind of thick and I've grown sick of it. I want to have straight silky hair, is there a way to get that more naturally without a straightener? Are there any recommended hair products? If I go to a hair salon or something will they tell me what I can do also?

A. Shiny, silky, smooth hair comes from: Good genes. Good hair care. Good foods from Mother Nature not made my man like John Frieda or supplements found @ GNC. Those products can only do more harm than good.. You'll get 12 responses, suggesting 12 different brands.

I use the cheapest shampoo (no conditioner for over 15 years - we also have soft water).

Washing less often, builds the natural oil your hair needs, to get them smoother, shinier, silkier, softer. Man-made products are just temporary, until you wash them again, and at the same time washing off the natural oil your hair NEEDS. Hair product just absorbs on your hair if they're dry, like a sponge.

The hair industry is a billion dollar business, they sell products that cleans & condition the hair. They also sell products that damage and causes hair loss. They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'.

In Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa where we stayed in Ireland, they have hotel shampoos bottled together as Body Wash & Shampoo in one. Why not, they are meant to clean. Their body lotion buttery serum, are meant for body AND hair. These products are sold in their spas for $15 a bottle, much more than over the counter and they contain natural ingredients. The more I used them, the greasier my hair got.

I've been using whatever shampoos they have in all the luxury hotels (Ireland) and it did the same as if I washed my hair with over the counter brand. The only difference? I briefly rinse my hair with bottled water, to help condition the hair because their water is not the same as Oregon water, but they taste the same. My hair still feel soft, silky, shiny & smooth. So salon, or spa products or over the counter, my hair doesn't change in texture.

When you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product donât actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain⦠along with all the money you spent on the shampoo.

Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair"
Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Have you seen Tucker McCall's hair in the Young & the Restless 3 weeks ago? His hair was set in curlers (Google how to set hair in plastic curlers) then brushed, then hair sprayed - if you wish. It's longer, that's the look of what healthy curly, no frizz hair looks like. Meaning EVEN GUYS style their hair like MODELS! You can do that @ home!

How to make my long wavy hair look smooth and shiny and soft?
Q. So I have longish hair I guess, it's like a little past my boobs when natural.(wavy) I braid my hair at night when it's wet to kind of bring out the waves so that it doesn't look that messy. I like my hair I guess, but the only problem is its not soft/smooth/shiny at all. Well I guess at times it's shiny, but what I really want to go for is hair that is very very very soft looking. Since my hair is wavy I can't brush through tangles or else it gets poofy. Is there like some secret to making your hair super soft looking no matter what hair texture you have?! Some people make it look like its naturally that smooth. Any tips/secrets on how to really smooth and soften my wavy hair without making it oily or weighed down? Thanks!

A. Braiding your hair when it damp, is a good way to make your hair curly for day! The more sections your braids, the tighter and curlier your curls will be. Finger comb when you take the braids out.

I've used the same cheapest shampoo Garnier for Normal Hair for over 15 years (no conditioner - we have soft water). When traveling, I briefly rinse with bottled water. Celebrities rinsed theirs with Perrier water. ~ InStyle mag. You can also use plastic curlers to set your hair, to get them silkier, softer, smoother. Blow dry. Take them out. Brush to style or tousle with your fingers. Retro styles are back!

They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'. Mechanical, chemical, or thermal styling. Hair straighteners and relaxers top the hair products pose the greatest risks. Hair relaxers, related products marketed heavily to African-American women, are dangerous because they may contain powerful chemicals such as lye, a toxic substance also used in drain cleaners.

In Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa where we stayed in Ireland, on in the best hotels in Spain example Con Gentileza (costing 15 Euro or Eau de Cartier all over shampoo they have hotel shampoos bottled together as Body Wash & Shampoo in one. .

Hair products are not made of glue to fix, repair, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged.

Itâs the dirty little secret shampoo companies donât want you to knowâwhen you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product donât actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain⦠along with all the money you spent on the shampoo.
Why does this happen? Because the shampoo molecules they contain are too large to penetrate the cells of hair and more importantly the tiny hair follicles where our hair actually grows. They sit atop the follicle until we wash them away.
Why is that a problem?
Our hair works basically the same wayâif you want to treat your hair right, you need to treat the roots.

HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you're adding to the hair, not the shampoo.

Best advice from Hollywood's well known hairstylist in the 80's once said: "Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair."

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.

NO MATTER which link (below) you picked, they all suggest the same foods. Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2" scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. ake the hair look healthier while it's growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling.

Best answer comes from people with Avatars, showing their healthy shiny, soft, silky, smooth hair.
Myth: Rinsing with ice-cold water after a shampoo will give you shinier hair.
Truth: It might wake you up, but a dousing of cold water will have no effect on the shininess of your tresses.

What is the most romantic resort or place to stay in Lake Tahoe?
Q. I'm getting married in early june and want to find a nice resort, cabin, etc to stay in. We are looking in the range of $300 per night for 2 nights so about $600 is our budget. We will be getting married at Logan Shoals.

A. I would recommend the Ritz Carlton. It is brand new.
I have personally not stayed there but the Ritz is one of my favorite hotel groups. Also it is one of the only luxury accommodations in the area.

Before making reservations, check out the packages on the ritz carlton website. They often have great deals

Congrats!
